Asheville and its environs are chock-a-blok full of brilliant creative writers. Each week on “Writers Talk” I’ll have an in-depth conversation with one of them, about not just what they’ve written, but why they chose to write what they did, and what doing that work has meant to them personally. The show will air every Monday from 5-6 p.m on 103.7 FM here in Asheville, and stream globally on wpvmfm.org. Each episode will be rebroadcast on Thursday evenings at 7 p.m. Once the show’s up and running, we’ll be turning it into a podcast.
Show #1: An interview with Evan Williams, author of the novel “Ripples”; a quick chat with Justin Souther from Malaprop’s Bookstore (in which he recommends the work of novelist Jesse Ball); a quick word about the upcoming North Carolina Writers Networks 2019 Fall Conference; a superb reading, by Sara Hardesty, of the poem, “A Laying on of Hands,” by Ntozake Shange. (Aired Monday, 10/21/2019, at 5 p.m.; rebroadcast Thursday, 10/24/2019 at 7 p.m.)
